Dogecoin
Originally launched as a novelty “memecoin” within the cryptocurrency community, Dogecoin (DOGE) has evolved into one of the most prominent altcoins on a substantial blockchain network. Despite its playful beginnings, there is a serious foundation behind Dogecoin’s creation and development.
Co-founders Jackson Palmer and Billy Markus, both software engineers, initiated Dogecoin to make cryptocurrency more accessible beyond the confines of Bitcoin. They observed that the complexities and resource-intensiveness of Bitcoin mining from its inception until the rise of Dogecoin barred many potential enthusiasts, particularly those with limited technological resources or expertise. Dogecoin was thus designed to lower the entry barrier, enabling those less experienced with cryptocurrency technology to participate in the crypto industry.
